1133. Intervention to consider in the polytrauma hypotensive head-injured patient // Managment options for elevated ICP // Indications for prophylactic abx in head injury

Mannitol is presently considered the first line agent for elevated ICP. Hypertonic saline is controversial; more of a case can be made for using hypertonic saline in patients who need volume expansion for bleeding from other sites. Hyperventilation is a temporizing measure only, as a bridge to surgery.
